Qian Qian, born in 1979, is a multi-faceted designer from China, working in print, web and motion. He graduated with a master’s degree in digital-media design from the University of Edinburgh, UK, and now teaches graphic design at Missouri State University, US. Nominated as one of the “20 under 30 New Visual Artists” of 2006 by Print magazine, he has worked with a wide range of clients, including Nike, Panasonic, Shiseido, Motorola and the British Council. His work has been published and exhibited internationally. In 2005, he conceived and co-curated “Get It Louder”, a design exhibition and event that toured Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing. He is also a judge of 86th ADC Awards in New York City.

Where do you go for the best view of your city?

Maybe on top of the Sheraton Hotel downtown . 

What's your favourite open space in the city?

Du Fu Cao Tang (Du Fu's Thatched Cottage).”    

What influence does your heritage have on your work?

Tao and Budda temples in the mountains, as well as food, and the humid weather in Chengdu, gave me my earliest art education.  

What's your favourite shop and why?
I don't have a particular one, but Chunxi shopping district is quite nice a place to go..  

Which city would you most ike to visit and why?

Tokyo. Because it is always ahead of its time.  

How do you unwind at the end of the day?

Doodling on a sketchpad, going to a nearby bookstore and becoming a bookworm with graphic books, attending friends’ gigs, playing board games at friends’ places, but best of all — taking a long nap with my ear plugs on .
